We are so excited to have joined forces with Killeen National School & are participating in Bugs, Bees & Native Trees project. We are pledging to sow 300 native trees around Louisburgh-Killeen over the coming months. The native trees we have chosen are Alder, Birch, Oak & Whitethorn. We are delighted to have the guidance of our Growing Louisburgh member Paul, who has delivered workshops to the children in Killeen N.S. in October. We hope to host more information sessions in the spring of 2022.

The Bugs, Bees & Native Trees project is a nationwide goal of getting communities, schools and individuals to learn more about native trees, about our bugs and bees and how we can do our bit to combat climate change. As stated on their website;

We are an All-Island climate action organisation.

We aim to tackle the issues of the environment, biodiversity and climate change, on a national scale and in a together and practical way, through tree planting and other environmental projects.

As we plant our native trees around Louisburgh-Killeen we will update and share photos of our progress. In the meanwhile you can check out the Bugs, Bees and Native Trees map on of all the communities in Ireland participating in this exciting project.
