A absolutely wonderful event at Cross Strand on Saturday 20th Aug 22.

Will Williams is most definitely the king of foraging! Ably assisted by Wendy & Steve, with such combined knowledge allowed an abundance of information on various species of botanicals, their historical uses, their value in today’s climate action fight and whether or not you could survive in the wilds eating from the grassland dunes!

The weather even co operated and the winds blowing in from the Atlantic added to the excitement of wild child day!

An overwhelming desire to learn more, we have enlisted both Will, Wendy and Steve to assist our recording of the flora along the coast line. There is just so much diversity and so much to learn. Keep an eye on our social media in the coming weeks as we bring you some interesting snippets of this project.

A massive thank you to Will, Wendy and Steve, without your local expertise we could not have had such an inspiring walk. Follow @walkonthewildside and @woointhewillows on Facebook and Instagram.

Thank you to the engaging public that participated in the walk, You really made the day with your questions and suggestions. And thank you to all the children who attended, you were so interested in the talks and in finding the next ‘treasure’, we know that the future of our local flora and fauna is in safe hands.

Thanks to the Louisburgh-Killeen Heritage volunteers for supporting and helping out with the days events.
