Kilgeever Cemetery Mass- Feast of the Assumption

Fr Mattie Long will celebrate Mass in Kilgeever Cemetery on the Feast of the Assumption, 15th August 2023 at 7:30pm.

Traditionally the 15th of July, the Feast of the Apostles was a date of pilgrimage to Kilgeever Holy Well and pilgrims would undertake the Stations of the Cross. In the 1940s it is recorded that pilgrimages would commence on August 15th until September 8th. In more recent revival of this sacred site, the 15th of August has been a day to celebrate mass in the open air when possible at the site and it is wonderful to see the local tradition and faith being kept alive.

In the event of inclement weather Mass will be celebrated in St Patrick’s church Louisburgh.
