Conservation Works at Kilgeever Abbey 2023
The on-going conservation works are continuing at Kilgeever Abbey under the direction of Mayo County Heritage Officer Deirdre Cunningham.
There is a huge improvement in the over all structure with the dangerous leaning gable now stabilised and much of the walls restored.
The invasive tangle of ivy roots and grass has now been cleared from the walls ensuring that the next phase of conservation could begin.
As the works are continuing we ask that you respect the workers and restricted site area until works are completed.
This conservation work is carried out with funding from the Community Monuments Fund secured by Mayo County Heritage Officer Deirdre Cunningham.
We fully support all the efforts to conserve and restore Kilgeever Abbey as part of important built heritage in our community.
