C.A.L.L. Climate Action Louisburgh Locality are delighted winners of the Mayo County Council Cathaoirleach’s Award for Green Community Group 2022.

The second annual Cathaoirleach’s Awards took place on Thursday 2nd March 2023 in Breaffy House Hotel.

The wonderful Sinead Healy entertained playing the harp, creating a relaxed atmosphere on entrance, a very well organised event that really showcased so many amazing community and voluntary groups and their projects.

A packed room enjoyed dinner and networked with over one hundred nominated groups from all over county Mayo.

Louisburgh had three voluntary community groups representing our amazing community.

Louisburgh Cemeteries Steering Committee was nominated under the Burial Ground of the Year.

The Granuaile and Famine Heritage Centre Committee was nominated under Contribution to Local Heritage.

C.A.L.L. Climate Action Louisburgh Locality was nominated under Green Community Group of the Year.

The judges had a very hard task in picking just one winning group, such was the level of fantastic groups and projects nominated that some categories had two joint winners.

We were so delighted to attend as nominees but to win was absolutely fantastic!

All nominees were applauded for their vital work in their respective communities, with the Cathaoirleach’s Awards a way of recognising this contribution to making life a better place for all.

C.A.L.L won the Green Community Group of the Year! And we agree it was so deserving for the amount of work achieved in two years. You can read about some of C.A.L.L. projects HERE

Louisburgh-Killeen Heritage is so proud of all the community groups we work with and are always willing to participate in any local projects that benefit the wider community.
