Killeen and Louisburgh have always taken pride in remembering, honouring and showing respect for those departed this life, by the upkeep of both graveyards in Killeen and Kilgeever. Having the grass cut, painting walls, gates or ensuring illegal dumping was prohibited are just some of the tasks. The Rural Social Scheme have played a part in carrying out these tasks in recent years.

We are now fortunate to have some graves plotted and recorded in Killeen old & new Cemetery and also Kilgeever New cemetery. A map is erected at the entrance gates with graves clearly marked and numbered for identification, making it easier to find a particular grave.

Not only that but all this is now available to view online. No matter where we are in the world we can look at our loved ones grave and this ensures that the upkeep of both graveyards are maintained to the highest standard. You can also view and submit memorials.

If you are simply seeking to find a family grave IrishGraveyards.ie can help. This site provides the facility to search a number of Irish graveyards to locate a specific grave or simply to browse through a graveyard. Just log on to www.irishgraveyards.ie

Of course there are many graves that have no visible markings to identify those buried there. If you know of any graves and would like these included please get in touch.

For Kilgeever Parish you can email the parish priest Fr. Long,  louisburghparish@icloud.com

  • Please advise if there are any Bradshaw family graves as my Bradshaw ancestors came from Kilgeever and I am desperately trying to find information on them. Someone said that one of them lived close to the Catholic Church. I would be most grateful for any information.
